Count of Mértola
The title Count of Mértola (Conde de Mértola) was granted to General Schomberg by Afonso VI of Portugal, in 1663, as a reward for Schomberg's services with the Portuguese army. The title has passed through female lines various times and is usually held concurrently by the Barons Darcy de Knayth and Conyers.
